Full Thickness Corneal Transplantation

Patients whose vision is compromised due to the thinning of the cornea may be advised to get a cornea transplant, also known as penetrating keratoplasty. This is a surgical procedure done to replace a patient’s damaged cornea with that of a donor in order to restore the portion of the eye where light enters and attributes to clearer vision. It can also be used to treat a number of other conditions relating to the cornea, including:

  • Fuchs’ dystrophy
  • Swollen corneas
  • Cornea scars
  • Keratoconus
  • Thinned or torn corneas
  • And others

To determine if you’re an ideal candidate for a corneal transplant, our team of doctors will perform a thorough exam. Call Southwest Eyecare in Albuquerque, NM to schedule yours today!
